For some weeks now, fubball-bayernligist TSV grobbardorf has been offering its fans something very special. 80 seats from the munich allianz arena have now been installed on the tribunes of the bioenergie arena, bringing glitz and glamour to the sports grounds on unterhofer strabe.
The gray seat shells have been through some rough games in the past: summit duels between FC bayern and borussia dortmund, the dramatic champions league final "dahoam", and the "bavaria" match, the munich team lost in a penalty shootout to chelsea FC, or the opening match of the 2006 soccer world cup germany vs. Costa rica.
After TSV 1860 munchen’s relegation from the second bundesliga at the end of the 2016/2017 season and the resulting move out of the allianz arena, bayern fans quickly began to dream of red seats in the allianz arena. When the dreams slowly became reality at the end of the past season, the question arose: what will happen to the old, discarded seats??
Even before FC bayern officially offered the seats for sale, TSV grobbardorf inquired with the record champion about acquiring the replaced seats. "We quickly agreed to try to get as many seats as possible from the allianz-arena to grobbardorf.", the athletic director of the grabfeld-galliers, andreas lampert, describes the beginnings of the project. In the end the effort was crowned with success. Thanks to sponsors 600 seats have found their way to grobbardorf.
In mid-june, hard-working helpers set off for munich in a rough truck to pick up the jewelry. "We want to make watching even more comfortable for our fans. In the future, we will be able to offer covered seating in the bioenergy arena, which is a milestone for our infrastructure," says the sporting director, lampert is pleased.
After 80 seats have been installed, more are to follow in the next few weeks. First, the tribune will be covered up to the height of the center line, so that about 350 seats will be available. In total, about 450 seats could be placed under the covered tribune, believes lampert. "For the remaining seat shells there are also considerations. We may install them on the substitutes’ benches or behind the goal."
The grabfeld-galliers are offering a special treat to their most loyal fans. For a one-time payment, spectators can reserve their own personal seat, to which a nameplate will be attached. Lampert also hopes that in the future more spectators will find their way to grobbardorf to watch football.
"We can offer our fans a coherent overall package. The team is currently playing very successfully and attractively. It makes watching from the comfort of one’s seat even more fun."
